2024 Undergraduate Contest

In honor of the Global Alliance’s 100th anniversary, we are sponsoring a contest for undergraduate students. Contest submissions must address the question, What is necessary to achieve mental wellness for all?

The winner will be announced at the Coming Together for Action 2024 Symposium in Chicago.

Contest Details

  • There will be two categories for submissions (details below).
  • There will be one (1) winner selected in each category.
  • The contest will open on August 28, 2024 and close on September 13, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Central.
  • Winners will be notified no later than September 20, 2024.
  • Winners  will receive registration to the symposium and will be encouraged to participate in the full symposium.
  • Winners will also be recognized and receive their award during the symposium

Rules & Eligibility

  • The contest is open to any individual enrolled as an undergraduate in a Chicago-area institution of higher learning.
  • Submission must be original content written in a format selected by the individual (i.e. essay, poem, etc.) and developed for the purpose of this contest. Visual or fine art submissions include, but are not limited to, photography, storytelling, mixed-media, video, music, dance, performance, fine arts.
  • Submission must be a maxium of 2 pages.
  • By submitting your content, you authorize the Global Alliance the right to share and reproduce the content.

Written Submission

Fine Arts Submission

  • Submission must be original content written in a format selected by the individual (i.e. essay/poem) and developed for the purpose of this contest.
  • Submission must be a maximum of 3 pages.
  • Submission must be original content developed for the purpose of this contest. Visual or fine art submissions include but are not limited to photography, storytelling, mixed-media, video, music, dance, performance, fine arts.
  • Submission must include a written description of the piece (maximum 250 words.)

The Global Alliance strongly believes that art and culture are central to well-being. They provide purpose, connection, and context for key issues. Celebrating and elevating the creativity of young people provides a pathway to understanding experiences that we all must recognize to achieve healthy and just communities.
